- meet with guidance counsellor to discuss your plan
- complete self-assessment of your skills, interests, abilities and preferred learning style
- apply for cooperative education to explore potential occupations related to your career area of interest
- investigate college programs related to your career area of interest
- thought about college-university combined programs?
- visit Ontario College Guide (OCAS) at www.ontariocolleges.ca
- attend college information sessions
- find out what the admission requirements are for the college program you are interested in
- complete your college application
- get a copy of your Ontario Student Transcript and Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- check out scholarship opportunities
- Do you need financial assistance?
- visit the Employment Centre to get information on part-time and/or summer employment opportunities

What do you need to graduate?
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) 18 Compulsory Credits - 4 credits of ENGLISH (one credit per grade)
- 3 credits of MATH (at least one credit in Grade 11 or 12)
- 2 credits in SCIENCE
- 1 credit in CANADIAN HISTORY
- 1 credit in CANADIAN GEOGRAPHY
- 1 credit in the ARTS
- 1 credit in HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION
- 1 credit in FRENCH as a second language
- 0.5 credit in CAREER STUDIES
- 0.5 credit in CIVICS
- PLUS on credit from each of the following groups:
- 1 or English OR French as a second language OR a Native Language OR an International Language OR Social Sciences and the Humanities OR Canadian and World Studies OR Guidance and Career Education OR Cooperative Education*
- 1 or Health and Physical Education OR Arts OR Business OR Cooperative Education*
- 1 of Science (Grade 11-12) OR Technological Education OR Cooperative Education*
In addition to the compulsory credits, the students must complete:12 Optional Credits 40 Hours Community Service Ontario Literacy Requirement OSSLT (Test) or OSSLC (Course)
* A maximum of 2 credits in cooperative education can count as compulsory credits ** May include up to 4 credits achieved through approved Dual Credit Courses
Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC)
7 Compulsory Credits - 2 credits in English
- 1 credit in Math
- 1 credit in Science
- 1 credit in Canadian History and Geography
- 1 credit in the Arts
- 1 credit in Health and Physical Education
In addition to the compulsory credits, the student must complete: 7 Optional Credits
Ontario Secondary School Certificate of Accomplishment
This certificate recognizes achievement for students who plan to pursue certain vocational programs or other kinds of community integration.
